RGCC and acute coronary syndrome: In acute coronary syndrome settings, low levels of RGC-32 may indicate a protective, antifibrotic function of RGC-32 in the ischemia-damaged myocardium; however, in stable chronic disease, RGC-32 serum values appear to correlate with the extent of atherosclerotic lesions, suggesting a pro-atherogenic role for RGC-32.
