In line with the in silico analysis we found that loss of NEDD9 was associated with decreased phosphorylation of NF-κb and decreased phosphorylation of p38, whereas secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF-alpha was increased upon infection, suggesting NF-κb and p38 independent regulation of cytokine release by other pathways. This evidence concerns the gene MAPK1 and infection.
