HP and parasitic infectious disease: Our findings demonstrate a potential role for Hp-FAR-2 in mediating omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acid uptake in chronic intestinal infection by H. polygyrus. Furthermore, we found that Hp-FAR-2 can dampen expression of M1 and M2 markers in RAW 264.7 cells during polarization, suggesting it may act as a broad immunomodulator, specifically targeting macrophages, which play an important role in clearing parasitic infection.
