Medin has been implicated in the pathophysiology of aortic aneurysms (Davies et al., 2015, 2019; Larsson et al., 2006; Mucchiano et al., 1992), vascular dementia (Karamanova et al., 2020; Migrino et al., 2020) and Alzheimer's disease(AD) (Migrino et al., 2020; Wagner et al., 2022), including recent preclinical discovery of its role in aging‐related cerebrovascular dysfunction (Degenhardt et al., 2020) and co‐aggregation with β‐amyloid in cerebral amyloid angiopathy (Wagner et al., 2022) in aged and AD mouse models, respectively. This evidence concerns the gene MFGE8 and Alzheimer disease.
