Because the SAP deletion in the A. thaliana study retained the nSAP domain [17], in addition to that A. thaliana does not have a DNA-PKcs [7] and thus may use a distinct Ku-dependent mechanism to repair DSBs, it is of particular interest for DNA repair and cancer research fields to directly define the function of mammalian Ku70-SAP. The gene discussed is XRCC6; the disease is cancer.
