In 2023, another group showed that irisin—a myokine—rescued cardiac dysfunction in diabetic cardiomyopathy by activating mitochondrial ubiquitin ligase MITOL (also known as MARCH5) and suppressing NLRP3 inflammasome activity through the inhibition of the cGAS/STING pathway [36]. This evidence concerns the gene CGAS and diabetic cardiomyopathy.
