Although largely untested in HIV populations, and as mentioned above, the pleiotropic effects of the incretin molecules, with impact on mortality and recently a range of other outcomes in those with overweight and heart failure, and similar anti‐inflammatory effects to statins, may make these medications, which do not cause (indeed, they treat) diabetes, more suitable agents, especially if oral formulations can be made to work and side effect profile concerns resolved.
