Notably, we found that the lead variant at the OSBPL11 locus, rs2979356, was linked to increased fat mass and triglyceride levels, as well as heightened risks of stroke and hypertension in African ancestry populations although findings varied across populations (Table 2), suggesting that OSBPL11 may contribute to the predisposition to metabolic disorders prevalent in these populations. This evidence concerns the gene OSBPL11 and metabolic disease.
