Ganesan et al. investigated the expression of other inflammasomes, such as NLRP2, NLRP8, and NLRP12 in periodontitis samples (Ganesan et al. 2022) and, recently, our research group demonstrated that the chronic inflammation observed in peri-implantitis patients could partly be attributed to the activation of the NLRP3 and AIM2 signaling pathways (Galindo-Moreno et al. 2023). This evidence concerns the gene AIM2 and periodontitis.
