LHCGR and breast cancer: In previous in vitro and in vivo studies, Phor14, Phor21, and Hecate lytic peptides were linked to a 15-amino acid fragment of the beta subunit of human chorionic gonadotropin (βCG) (Phor14-βCG, Phor21-βCG, and Hecate-βCG) to successfully target luteinizing hormone receptor (LHCGR)-expressing prostate (Jia et al. 2008; Bodek et al. 2005a, b; Hansel et al. 2001, 2007a, b), ovarian (Gawronska et al. 2002) and breast cancer cells (Bodek et al. 2003; Hansel et al. 2007a, b) or their metastases.
