We previously showed that chronic glucocorticoid treatment-induced hepatic steatosis and hypertriglyceridemia are attenuated in mice lacking angiopoietin-like 4 (Angptl4), a GR primary target gene that encodes a secreted protein that inhibits lipoprotein lipase and promotes adipose tissue lipolysis (9, 10, 11). The gene discussed is ANGPTL4; the disease is fatty liver disease.
