IL6 and atherosclerosis: This finding aligns with previous research linking chronic inflammation to the pathogenesis and progression of atherosclerosis.[17–19] IL-6 is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a central role in the inflammatory response and has been implicated in the destabilization of atherosclerotic plaques, leading to adverse cardiovascular events.[20–22] Our results further reinforce the notion that IL-6 is not only a marker of systemic inflammation but also an active participant in the progression of coronary artery lesions.
