FABP5 and cancer: FABP5 is one FABP isoform that plays an important role in lipid transport and metabolism.28 FABP5 is implicated in metabolic syndrome, neurologic diseases, inflammation, and cancers.28,29 Previous studies showed that FABP5 is a redox-active protein, forming intracellular disulfide and S-glutathionylation.30–32 Functional analysis demonstrated that FABP5 S-glutathionylation suppresses lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation in macrophages.31 In this study, we showed that the G-PROV strategy induces a glutathione modification in FABP5, resembling S-glutathionylation.
