Given the high specificity of anti-SPTBN1 and anti-CBX3 IgA antibodies for IgAN, the detection of antimesangium IgA antibodies could in the future allow early diagnosis of IgAN, and facilitate earlier intervention with ≥ 1 of the newly approved IgAN therapies, thereby reducing the lifetime risk of kidney failure for patients with IgAN. The gene discussed is CBX3; the disease is kidney failure.
