Cytokine‐mediated upregulation of natriuretic peptides and myocardial strain from microvascular dysfunction, a known CAV pathology, in addition to the well‐established role of NT‐proBNP in the assessment of heart failure, and its release in response to myocardial stretch myocardial stretch, might contribute to the pronounced association of this natriuretic peptide with CAV [34]. This evidence concerns the gene NPPB and heart failure.
