While the Warburg effect is a hallmark of various cancers, our study shows that PLK1-overexpressing LNCaP prostate cancer cells do not significantly elevate lactate secretion despite enhanced glycolysis (Fig. EV 11A), whereas C4–2-PHGDH-3D cells secret abundant lactate (Fig. EV11C).
