A multiethnic (i.e., White, Black, and Hispanic) observational study [30] of 110 youth aged 14 to 21 years with normal weight and obesity showed that youth with obesity and IGT, as well as insulin‐resistant youth with obesity and NGT, have lower fractional hepatic MCRI than normal‐weight youth and insulin‐sensitive youth with obesity. The gene discussed is INS; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
