P4HA1, an enzyme involved in collagen hydroxylation and hypoxia response, has been recently shown to regulate succinylation in glioblastoma by increasing intracellular succinate and enhancing PGK1 K191/K192 succinylation, which stabilizes PGK1 and promotes aerobic glycolysis via the HIF1α/ATF3 axis (31). The gene discussed is ATF3; the disease is glioblastoma.
