GP1BA and blood coagulation disease: More recently, detailed physiological work on botrocetin has shown that in the presence of VWF, botrocetin can induce coagulopathy even in the absence of its preferred platelet receptor (GP1Bα), and that it also interacts directly with a different platelet integrin (αIIbβ3) to block fibrinogen and other ligands essential for coagulation and healing (Shen et al. 2024).
