CD8A and skin squamous cell carcinoma: Significant differences exist between the immune microenvironments of cervical squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC) and cervical adenocarcinoma (CAde): CSCC exhibits higher infiltration of cytotoxic CD8+ T cells, natural killer (NK) cells, and pro-inflammatory macrophages (M1 phenotype), whereas CAde is dominated by regulatory T cells (Tregs), immunosuppressive macrophages (M2 phenotype), and cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) (32–34).
