SNX5 and Parkinson disease: Since mutations in vacuolar protein sorting ortholog 35 (VPS35), another component of the retromer complex, are associated with hereditary forms of PD [11], and endocytosis and endosomal trafficking have been linked to uptake and release of αSyn [12], our focus was to investigate the involvement of SNX5 in the regulation and trafficking of αSyn and how SNX5 gene knockdown protects dopaminergic neurons from αSyn-induced cytotoxicity.
