Our analysis of the gene expression related to ferroptosis, using qPCR, demonstrated that in mice infected with C. sinensis, there was a substantial reduction in the GPX4 and SLC7A11 genes; the decrease measured at 63.4% and 74.9% respectively, at 7 days post-infection (d.p.i) compared to the control group treated with PBS (Fig 1A). Here, SLC7A11 is linked to infection.
