One of the methyltransferases, vir‐like m6A methyltransferase associated (VIRMA), is highly expressed in pancreatic cancer and modifies the 3’ UTR of signaling receptor and transporter of retinol STRA6 (STRA6) mRNA with m6A. The m6A‐modified STRA6 mRNA is stabilized by the binding of IGF2BP2, which increases downstream hypoxia‐inducible factor 1 subunit alpha (HIF‐1α) expression and enhances glycolysis [29]. This evidence concerns the gene HIF1A and pancreatic neoplasm.
