It has been postulated that hypertriglyceridemia and high plasma LPS associated with HFD may be due to decreased expression of intestinal epithelial proteins such as Occludin and ZO-1 secondary to increased intestinal permeability (Wang et al., 2021; Dembek et al., 2017; Xu et al., 2007). This evidence concerns the gene OCLN and hypertriglyceridemia.
