In a recent study where cognitive function was evaluated by MoCA 3 months post-stroke onset, patients with PSCI had higher levels of gut Enterobacteriaceae and plasma IL-6, Il-1β compared to those without PSCI39 Additionally, a meta-analysis including 12 studies, all conducted in China, revealed that patients with PSCI had an increased abundance of Proteobacteria at the phylum level; Bacteroidaceae, Lachnospiraceae, and Veillonellaceae at the family level; and Bacteroides, Clostridium XIVa, and Parabacteroides at the genus level.
