BRCA1 and breast cancer: -Interpretation of genetic variants in a clinical context: when a more extensive gene panel is used, or even WGS is performed, there is a risk of detecting a P/LP variant in a gene that has no association with the observed disease of the patient (e.g., the finding of a pathogenic variant in BRCA1 that is associated with breast cancer in a patient with dilated cardiomyopathy without breast cancer), this is called an incidental finding.
