Except for lysosomal damage, lysosomes have abnormal functions related to various diseases like Gaucher disease (GD), which is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder classified under lysosomal storage diseases, and is caused by mutations in the GBA1 gene, disrupting glucocerebrosidase in lysosomes, leading to accumulation and dysfunctions (Andrzejczak and Karabon, 2024). Here, GBA1 is linked to Gaucher disease.
