The rate of fibrinogen β chain (FGB) expression is a limiting factor in fibrinogen assembly, and numerous studies have demonstrated that elevated plasma fibrinogen levels are associated with tumorigenesis and poor prognosis in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, esophageal cancer, and colorectal cancer (Tang et al., 2010; Perisanidis et al., 2015; Zhang and Long, 2017; Zhang et al., 2017). The gene discussed is FGB; the disease is esophageal cancer.
