The presence of PNPLA3 polymorphisms in the Mexican population has been associated with an increased risk of MASLD, and it has been found that carriers of the GG genotype have a 3.8-fold increased risk of MASLD and a 2.3-fold increased risk of liver fibrosis, according to the pathophysiological elements previously mentioned [8]. Here, PNPLA3 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
