Patel et al. showed that while the percentage of patients using antihyperglycemic medications other than insulin (39.5%), sulfonylureas (32.4%), and metformin (17%) was low overall, 6.6% of patients with HF used thiazolidinediones, and 5.1% of patients used dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors, with trends showing a decrease in thiazolidinedione use and an increase in dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor use over time [53]. The gene discussed is DPP4; the disease is hydrops fetalis.
