Since the binding site of NRSE/RE-1 has been identified in Cacna1b (a gene encoding Cav2.2-α α-subunit) [46], it is possible that H2O2-reduced Cav2.2 channel expression/activation might be achieved by REST binding to the Cacna1b gene in the T2DM state.
