NLRP3 and polycystic ovary syndrome: A Western blot analysis revealed a significant increase in the relative protein levels of the classic inflammatory pathways NFκB and JNK (Figure 1) in the PCOS+ versus the PCOS group, but we did not detect any changes between the healthy and PCOS subjects without PD These results suggest that gingivitis was instrumental in inducing the priming step of NLRP3 inflammasome formation in patients in the PCOS+ group, thus indicating an enhanced inflammatory status among these individuals (Figure 1).
