Obesity is related to adiposopathy, a state of excessive body weight, and dysfunctional fat tissue as a consequence of the enlargement of fat cells, which leads to elevated concentration of pro-inflammatory cytokines and biomarkers of inflammation (e.g., prostaglandins, C reactive protein) in the systemic circulation, secreted by adipose tissue. Here, CRP is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
