VEGFA and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma: The addition of bevacizumab, a monoclonal antibody that targets vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), a potent inducer of angiogenesis, to chemotherapy in R/M-HNSCC improved PFS (6.0 vs. 4.3 months, p = 0.0014) and RRs (35.5% vs. 24.5%, p = 0.016) but did not significantly improve OS (p = 0.22).
