Precisely, mouse models of obesity and diabetes (ob/ob, db/db, DIO-C57BL6J) display a fatty liver phenotype characterised by the increased accumulation of lipid droplets and hepatocyte damage, and the downregulation of Tff3 expression in the liver is observed in these models [3,4,5]. The gene discussed is TFF3; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
