Based on these analyses, we speculate that high FANCI expression not only facilitates DNA repair but also represents an adaptive mechanism—enabling cancer cells to tolerate higher levels of genomic instability and avoid lethal damage, thereby securing a survival advantage in rapidly proliferating and hostile microenvironments (Fierheller et al., 2021; Rego et al., 2012b; Hu et al., 2019).
