Since prior positive findings of the role of GLO1 on anxiety-like (Hovatta et al., 2005; Williams 4th et al., 2009; Distler et al., 2012; Wang et al., 2020), and depression-like behavior (McMurray et al., 2018) and there is high comorbidity between mood disorders and substance use (Quello et al., 2005; Hartman et al., 2023), future studies should investigate the effectiveness of pBBG to attenuate anxiety-like behaviors and substance use. This evidence concerns the gene GLO1 and depressive disorder.
