Of interest, in a chicken model of photosensitive epilepsy, a genetic animal model where the neurological disorder is inherited as an autosomal recessive mutation, a mutation in SV2A, the gene‐encoding synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2A (SV2A), was found that causes an aberrant splicing event, significantly reducing the level of SV2A messenger RNA (mRNA) in homozygous carriers.49 This evidence concerns the gene SV2A and nervous system disorder.
