MBD1 and colitis: These results suggested that AhR‐mediated production of mBD‐1 (Figures 1C–F and 5M,N) may be responsible for lower levels of gram‐negative bacteria (Figures 7C–H) in colitis mice, because BD‐1 has been demonstrated to eradicate a variety of gram‐negative bacteria.[10, 11] In addition, reduced abundance of Bacteroidetes in colitis mice treated with I3C facilitates the buildup of potentially many members of firmicutes such as Roseburia.
