Previous studies have reportedthat several inner membrane lipoproteinsof T. pallidum such as TP0171 (Tp15),TP0435 (Tp17), TP0574 (Tp47), TP0684, and TP0453 have strong immunogenicitywhen evaluated against human sera and infected rabbit sera.,, These findings suggest that theselipoproteins are the main virulence factors and are also recognizedas coating antigens in treponemal serodiagnosis tests for syphilis.−, , , The proteins Tp0171 (TpN15), Tp0435 (TpN17), Tp0574 (TpN47), Tp0684,and Tp0453 are named based on their respective gene codes in T. pallidum. The gene discussed is CDKN2B; the disease is syphilis.
