It is currently believed that MOG antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) is an acquired demyelinating disease of the central nervous system, distinct from MS and NMOSD, and the affected patients may exhibit any combination of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), transverse myelitis (TM), optic neuritis (ON), brainstem syndrome (BS), and cortical encephalitis (CE) (11). This evidence concerns the gene MOG and acute disseminated encephalomyelitis.
