Recent studies on the impact of COVID‐19 on the male reproductive system suggest that, after SARS‐CoV‐2 infection, the expression of TJ proteins, including occludin and claudin‐11, is disrupted, accompanied by increased expression of pro‐inflammatory cytokines such as IL‐6, TNF‐α and IL‐1β, leading to a decrease in the number of Sertoli cells and sperm cells [38]. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and COVID-19.
