In this investigation, the genes and proteins implicated in the three primary stages of autophagy—initiation (AMPK, mTORC1, and ULK1), nucleation (Beclin1), and elongation/maturation (Atg5 and p62 proteins, as well as the LC3BII/I ratio)—were assessed in order to assess the role of autophagy in the impact of FSN on liver steatosis. The gene discussed is ATG5; the disease is fatty liver disease.
