GLP1R and diabetes mellitus: Semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist, reduces CVD events in patients with diabetes1 and with overweight or obesity and pre-existing CVD without diabetes from the SELECT (Semaglutide Effects on Heart Disease and Stroke in Patients with Overweight or Obesity) trial2 with a 20% reduction in CVD events and a 73% reduction in incident diabetes.
