A notable limitation hindering the therapeutic application of wogonin is the low oral bioavailability.[73] Therefore, emerging pharmaceutical strategies involving nanocapsule technology or targeted chemical structure modification have considerable potential to improve the bioavailability and pharmacokinetic profile of wogonin.[74] Our study suggested that KLF11 may be a new antiatherogenic target and wogonin may be a novel strategy for atherosclerosis treatment. This evidence concerns the gene KLF11 and atherosclerosis.
