Interestingly, pharmacological or genetic ablation of LRRK2 protects against PD-associated environmental toxicants (Ilieva et al., 2024; Mendivil-Perez et al., 2016; Quintero-Espinosa et al., 2017; Quintero-Espinosa et al., 2024; Quintero-Espinosa et al., 2023) and attenuates α-Syn gene-induced PD (Daher et al., 2015). This evidence concerns the gene LRRK2 and Parkinson disease.
