Few CGIs (36%, 4 out of 11) tend to restore their methylation value upon treatment and four already presented significant differences between uninfected macrophages and L. (V.)braziliensis untreated samples, shown with an asterisk in Figure 4D. Interestingly, the CGI associated with ABCA2, solely detected in L. (V.)braziliensis infection, showed after treatment a methylation value (0.89) closer to uninfected macrophages (0.96) than to the untreated samples (0.78) (Figure 4D). Here, ABCA2 is linked to infection.
