Several studies, including data from the Human Lung Cell Atlas [68] single‐cell RNA sequencing on lung adenocarcinoma and squamous carcinoma [69], and multi‐omic profiling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) [70], have identified a population of monocyte‐derived SPP1+ TAMs in lung cancer, reinforcing their significance in shaping the tumour microenvironment. The gene discussed is SPP1; the disease is lung cancer.
