We found decreased levels of many chemokines in the blood of VEXAS patients, especially CXCL5, which is generated by lung and other epithelial cells under inflammation and acts as a potent chemoattractant and an activator of neutrophils via CXCR1 and CXCR2 receptors43,44. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL5 and VEXAS syndrome.
