TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP−43), a highly conserved RNA/DNA-binding protein that accumulates in ALS, frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and AD that has been recently shown to be enriched at the centrosome [26] and ALS2, another protein linked to ALS, primary lateral sclerosis and ascending hereditary spastic paralysis, also associates with centrosomes [27]. The gene discussed is TARDBP; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
